We don't buy the sugar cereals, right?
Generally speaking, we don't buy the sugary cereals. We avoid the Apple Jacks and Fruit Loops. And would never think of buying Cookie Crisps. I mean... cookies for breakfast? Who does that? The rare treat (or splurge) is something like Golden Grahams. No, we go for the good cereals like Cheerios and Chex. In fact, Honey Nut Cheerios is a staple in our house.
But during a recent trip to the grocery store I happened to take a peek at the nutritional label of a few cereals. I was a bit shocked at what I saw. Honey Nut Cheerios has more fat, more calories and almost as much sugar as Cookie Crisp. And Golden Grahams has the same (or more) of each of those than Cookie Crsips. Cookie Crisp is even lower in sodium.
| Calories | Fat | Sugar | Fiber | Protein | Sodium | |
| Golden Grahams | 120 | 1g | 10g | 2g | 2g | 240mg |
| Cookie Crisp | 100 | 1g | 10g | 1g | 1g | 150mg |
| Honey Nut Cheerios | 110 | 1.5g | 9g | 2g | 2g | 160mg |
So depending on which items you are trying to watch in your diet, Cookie Crisp just might be a better choice for you than Honey Nut Cheerios. Who would have thought that cute little bee was selling us one of those cereals.
